TRYOUT PROCEDURES
Selection of the All-City Middle School Orchestra will be based on the results of the current year TMEA MS Region Orchestra results. (Instrumentation will/may vary depending on number of entries)
TRYOUT MATERIAL
The All-City tryout music is the same material used for current year TMEA MS Region Orchestra Auditions.
ELIGIBILITY
Only eligible 6-8 grade students attending HCISD middle schools or private/home schools in the HCISD school zone are eligible for All-City. (Private/Home school students must declare interest by email to HCISD Director of Music Programs no later than 3 weeks prior to All-City Event).
WINNERS
Students earning a chair in All-City Orchestra and participate in the clinic/concert earn a PATCH.
HCISD Middle School All-City Orchestra
The orchestra has a minimum total of 73 students. The instrumentation is as follows:

*other instruments may be added if necessary for performance of selected repertoire Violin Chairs: The seating arrangement for violins WILL follow the same model as the TMEA Region 28 Middle School Violin seating protocols: Chairs 1-4 Violin 1; Chairs 5-8 Violin 2; Chairs 9-22 Violin 1; Chairs 23-36 Violin 2. In the event that an insufficient number of students audition to fill these chairs, the HCISD Director of Music Programs shall make adjustments to the seating arrangement. |
